Washington Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo is coming off of his best game of the season in Week 5, catching four of his six targets for 60 yards. Okonkwo had an unfortunate runout to begin his tenure in Washington, leaving Week 1 early with a hamstring injury and then missing the first two games of his career. Then, after returning in Week 4, the 27-year-old tight end played the majority of the game with a third-string rookie seventh-round quarterback, limiting his production. Okonkwo seems to have a solid connection with star quarterback Jayden Daniels, but it will be tested against Fred Warner and the 49ers' defense on Monday night, which has allowed the fourth-fewest PPR points per game to opposing tight ends so far this season. Okonkwo projects as a mid-range TE2 for Week 6, ranking as RotoBaller's TE22.
Washington Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo was injured in his debut with the team in the Week 1 loss to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles and missed the next two weeks, but now that he is back and healthy, the 27-year-old is in play as a waiver-wire pickup at the TE position as bye weeks begin to thin out fantasy managers' options. Okonkwo had his best game in the Week 5 overtime tie versus the division-rival New York Giants on Sunday, catching four of his six targets for 60 yards. He is even more appealing as a streamer at the position going into a Week 6 contest on Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers with receiver Stefon Diggs (hamstring) banged up. The matchup against the undefeated 49ers on the road is not ideal, but Okonkwo will have sleeper appeal going into that game if Diggs misses a second straight contest. Before Okonkwo's early-season injury, he was considered a potential breakout at the TE position heading into his first year in D.C. The 49ers' defense has allowed only 6.0 half-PPR points to the position through five weeks, which is tied for the fourth-fewest in the league.
Washington Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo will make his return in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. Okonkwo played 55.7% of the snaps and caught two of three targets for 16 yards before exiting. The 27-year-old tight end could serve as Washington's No. 2 target in the passing game behind Stefon Diggs with Terry McLaurin (hamstring) not expected to play. Okonkwo could be in line for a productive day against a Colts defense that has allowed the ninth most fantasy points per game (10.8) and the fifth most receptions (20) to opposing tight ends so far this season. Okonkwo ranks as RotoBaller's TE25 in PPR formats for Week 4.
