Josh Jacobs Activated, Will Play in Week 7

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been activated and will play in his team's Week 7 matchup against the Detroit Lions, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Jacobs spent the first six weeks of the season on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt list due to an offseason arrest but came off the list on Monday. When active, the 28-year-old has been a workhorse back for Green Bay. Across 15 games in 2025, Jacobs recorded 1,211 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns on 270 touches. He may not see his usual complement of touches right away in his first game back after a long layoff. Still, Jacobs should be Green Bay's preferred option in the red zone and on early downs. Now that he's officially active, Jacobs profiles as a must-start running back for fantasy managers in Week 7.

Josh Jacobs Has Touchdown-Driven RB2 Appeal In Week 7 Against Detroit

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs could provide an immediate scoring boost in Sunday's Week 7 matchup against Detroit, even if his workload is limited. Green Bay has averaged an NFL-worst 59.8 rushing yards per game and 2.9 yards per carry during his six-game absence. Detroit has allowed six rushing touchdowns through five games despite holding opponents to 107 rushing yards per contest. That matchup could favor Jacobs, who rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025, particularly if he reclaims goal-line opportunities. Green Bay's running backs continued to struggle against Dallas last week, with Pierre Strong Jr. gaining 28 yards on 11 carries and MarShawn Lloyd managing just 10 yards on eight attempts. Strong caught five passes, potentially giving Green Bay another option on passing downs as Jacobs gets reacclimated. Head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that Jacobs is on track to play, though his workload remains to be determined. RotoBaller ranks Jacobs RB13 for Week 7. If active, Jacobs offers RB2 value with significant touchdown upside, though fantasy managers should account for a potentially reduced workload.

Josh Jacobs "On Track to Play" in Week 7

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that running back Josh Jacobs is "on track to play" on Sunday in the Week 7 divisional showdown on the road against the Detroit Lions as long as he gets through Friday's practice and continues to trend in the right direction, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. After a legal battle kept Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list for the first six weeks of the 2026 season, the 28-year-old was reinstated on Monday and had his first full practice with the team on Thursday. Jacobs is trying to get his legs under him in order to make his season debut this weekend against the Lions. It looks like he will be active on Sunday, but fantasy managers have to wonder if the Packers will ease him back into a backfield that also includes MarShawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson. The former first-rounder by the Raiders in 2019 from Alabama is a three-time Pro Bowler and the unquestioned lead back in Green Bay after finding the end zone a whopping 28 times over the last two seasons while also rushing for over 1,000 yards in his first season with the team in 2024. If Jacobs is officially active in Detroit, he should be considered an RB2 right away for fantasy purposes.
